Green Door Wines in Henty is a hidden gem for couples seeking a romantic date amidst picturesque vineyards.

Named Green Door Wines for its insta-famous Green Door set within the cellar door, look through the opening for a breath-taking view of the rolling hills of Ferguson Valley. The restaurant and cellar door’s charm is peaceful and serene, and is the perfect romantic place to sip through the a wine tasting session.

On the menu for wine tasting are some incredible varietals like Verano, Verdelho and Terpranillo, so spend the afternoon looking out over the view and fill up on Green Door Wine’s platters that are designed to be paired with their wines.

St Aidan Wines

Sample award-winning wines in their beautiful restaurant with views to the lush lawn below. Specialising in wine varietals like Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Tempranillo, Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon and Muscat, St Aidan Wines is open for you to pop by 7 days a week.

Indulge in the menu their dedicated chefs have curated for you, or bring some food with you and sit on the lawn under the peppy trees for a private picnic on the picturesque grounds.

Hackersley Estate

Hackersley Wines Estate is known locally as an incredibly romantic place to indulge in a 3-course long lunch. Their menu changes every 8 weeks so locals make it a point to come back to experience each new menu.

The fantastic food coupled with scrumptious wines and a stunning view, we can’t think of a more romantic way to spend an afternoon.

Open Thursday to Sunday from 10am-4pm, lunch reservations are recommended as most people like to spend the whole afternoon enjoying the Hackersley experience and tables may not become available again later.

Indulge in Gastronomy

Market Eating House

Welcoming from the first step, Bunbury's Market Eating House brings life to the growing dining scene in Western Australia's South region. Intimate and cozy, Market Eating House is a local favourite for a night out, and also a West Australian Good Food Guide Top 25 Casual Dining Restaurant.

We recommend taking them up on their “Let Us Feed You” menu where you can enjoy a selection of shared dishes featuring the best that Market has to offer you over 3 courses. Think Baba Ganoush, slow roasted lam shoulder and Abrolhos scallops.

If you’re keen on getting in elbows deep with your partner, you can also learn the secrets to preparing incredible food at a cooking class with head chef Brenton Pyke. Nothing spells romance like a dance to create a delicious meal together.

Lost Bills

Grab a cheeky cocktail at Lost Bills, an unexpectedly trendy cocktail bar in the middle of Bunbury. The cocktails are crafted and made with passion, Lost Bills is definitely the place to go after hours for a night out.

Spend the evening in a quiet corner or chat it up with the friendly staff who may or may not craft you your very own special cocktail (if you ask nicely), the intimate space pumps out the tunes for a great evening out.

Plan to have dinner before or after though, as Lost Bills has a limited snack menu, preferring instead to spend their efforts concentrating on their cocktail offerings.

Picnic Cheer

Picnic Cheer is a great local business that creates personalised and unique picnics at your chosen location. All you need to do is show up and enjoy as they will set up the picnic and pack it down when you’re done.

Each picnic is styled with rugs, low table/s, cushions, ottomans, matching tableware and table decor, fresh flower arrangements, cloth napkins and glassware for a luxurious romantic meal outdoors (romantic proposal anyone?).

If you need some help with romantic spots in Bunbury to hold the picnics, they also have a handy list of romantic locations they recommend.

Indulge in nature

Take in a South West sunset

The sunsets in the South West are legendary, and if you’ve never seen one, you don’t know what you’re missing. Grab a picnic, wrap yourself up in a blanket on the beach and take in one of our spectacular sunsets. Any of the beaches in Bunbury will give you a good vantage point, but Back Beach is a white sandy beach that will give you a great view of the orange rays of the sun sinking below the horizon. If you’re looking for something with a little more power, the black rocks at Wyadup-Rocky Point and the strong waves that crash upon it is a great show to watch as the sun goes down.

Honeymoon Pool

What’s more romantic than heading out to a place called Honeymoon Pool? A freshwater hole in between Ferguson Valley and Collie, spend the day in Wellington National Park on the banks of the Collie River.

Bring a picnic with you as you sit under the canopy of peppermint trees before jumping off the purpose-built deck into the fresh cool water for a swim. Soak up the sun on the wooden platform, wander the trails along the banks of the river, or explore by water on the kayak trail.
