Tip: The museum also houses the Bunbury Visitor Centre, offering insights and tips for exploring the area.
A must-see this winter is the striking Wadandi Boodja sculpture at Koombana Bay. Standing over five metres tall, this steel bust was created by local artists Alex and Nicole Mickle. The artists explained the process of the face comes from a comprehensive study of historical photographs dating from the 1870’s to the early 1900’s, coupled with contemporary images and faces of Noongar people which enabled them to “create an image of a generic Noongar man”.
You need to visit in person to fully appreciate the magnitude of the sculpture, so make sure you put this on the list when visiting Bunbury in winter.
